Gagan Kaushal received his Ph.D. in Industrial Pharmacy from St. John’s University, NY. He also holds a B.S. of Pharmacy from Panjab University, Chandigarh, India. His Ph.D. dissertation topic was “Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis as a protein delivery vehicle through oral and vaginal routes”. After graduating from St. John’s University, Dr. Kaushal joined as a Senior Research Scientist at Biosyn Inc., PA, where he worked on a major project for formulation of vaginal gels for 3 anti-HIV drugs (Microbicides). After spending one year in industry Dr. Kaushal took a postdoctoral position at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. He joined as an Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the Department of Pharmaceutical and Administrative Sciences within the School of Pharmacy in July 2007.
Dr. Kaushal has worked on projects benefiting patients suffering from life-threatening diseases—diabetes, cancer, HIV, etc. He has experience in various pharmaceutical research areas including solid dosage forms, pharmacokinetics and bioavailability, protein drug delivery, nanotechnology, targeting drug delivery systems, cancer research, etc. His research activities are usually infused with novel ideas from inter-discipline approach. He has also conducted and published original research with potential for benefiting the pharmaceutical industry and millions of patients requiring invasive delivery of life-saving drugs. |
