Dr. Laura Welch received both her Bachelor of Science in pharmacy and Doctorate of Pharmacy degrees from the University of Kentucky. Following graduation, Laura completed both a general residency in pharmacy practice and specialty residency in critical care at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. She has pioneered the delivery of pharmaceutical care in several clinical pharmacy positions within the Appalachian region including practices in large institutional environments and rural ambulatory/community care clinics. She has also served as clinical pharmacy coordinator within a large teaching hospital environment. Her interests include pharmacy practice development, student and resident education, and practice-level mentorship. Laura brings strong clinical experience and leadership to the University of Charleston School of Pharmacy Department of Pharmacy Practice. One of her goals is to expand community clinical practice and patient care throughout the Appalachian region by partnering School of Pharmacy clinical faculty with specific community health providers.
