Dr. Michelle Herdman graduated from Bridgewater College in 1994 with a B.S in Medical Technology. She worked for two years at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, Virginia, after which she worked for five years at Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) in Charleston, West Virginia, including two years as a laboratory supervisor. In 2001, she began work on her doctoral degree, with the emphasis in pharmacology and toxicology. Her thesis work focused on the mechanism of neurotoxicity caused by thimerosal. She received her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from Marshall University School of Medicine in 2006 and then joined the UCSOP faculty in June that year. Michelle has also been a member of the American Medical Writers Association since 2002.
Dr. Herdman's current research interests are focused on the potential harm and benefits of the use of dietary supplements and herbal medicines during the treatment of cancer. She also has a continued interest in medical communications.
